AI Transparency Statement
Last updated: March 16, 2026
Purpose #
This statement describes how Lucerna uses automated tools in its editorial and research workflow, in compliance with the EU AI Act (Regulation 2024/1689), Article 50.
Our Approach #
Lucerna is an independent OSINT research lab. Our investigations rely on publicly available information, primary sources, and reproducible analysis. We use automated tools as part of our editorial process to support — not replace — human judgment.
How Automated Tools Are Used #
| Stage | Role of Automated Tools | Human Oversight |
|---|---|---|
| Research | Assisting with source discovery, data aggregation, and cross-referencing | All sources independently verified by researchers |
| Drafting | Supporting text preparation and structuring | Every article reviewed and edited by a named editor |
| Translation | Assisting with multilingual content (EN/RU/PT) | Native speakers review all translations |
| Quality assurance | Checking for consistency, broken links, and formatting | Final review is always manual |
What Automated Tools Do NOT Do #
- Automated tools do not make editorial decisions about what to publish
- Automated tools do not determine the conclusions of any investigation
- Automated tools do not generate fabricated evidence or sources
- All factual claims are verified against primary sources
Human Accountability #
Every published article includes:
reviewed_by— the name of the person who reviewed the contentreview_date— the date of the last human review
These fields are visible in the article metadata section.
Confidence and Status System #
All articles carry a transparent status indicator:
- Verified — all facts confirmed by 2+ independent sources
- Partially Verified — key facts confirmed, some pending
- Unverified — preliminary research, not yet confirmed
- Draft — work in progress, not ready for citation
